Even with Summer coming to an end, doesn’t mean we should go without sunscreen. During the Fall and Winter months, it’s important to protect your skin from the harmful UV rays. You are exposed to them all year long, not just spring/ summer.
When searching for a sunscreen you want to find a sunscreen with Zinc Oxide or Titanium as the active ingredient. These ingredients create a physical layer on top of the skin rather than being absorbed into the bloodstream. Zinc Oxide is the only active ingredient that provides a full, broad spectrum protection. Broad Spectrum means that it protects from UVB and UVA rays. I make sure the SPF that I protect my little one has Zinc Oxide.
There are two types of sunscreen : Physical & Chemical.
Physical Sunscreen works like a shield for the skin. When you apply a physical sunscreen, it sits on the surface of your skin and deflects any sun rays.
Chemical Sunscreen works like a sponge. It absorbs the suns rays then tries to protect from the sun rays. Sometimes people get a chemical burn from using these types of sunscreen and think it’s a sun burn. Know what you are putting on your skin.
Just a reminder, if you have SPF in your foundation it is still not enough! Be sure to apply SPF 30+ under your makeup or use a mineral powder SPF over your makeup!
